Why buy Motor Insurance?
Motor Insurance gives protection to the vehicle owner against damages to his/her vehicle and Third Party Liability determined as per law against the owner of the vehicle. Third Party Insurance is a statutory requirement. The owner of the vehicle is legally liable for any injury or damage to third party life or property caused by or arising out of the use of the vehicle in a public place.
What does Motor Insurance cover?
Own Damage Section of Motor Insurance generally covers fire, explosion, self- ignition, lightning, burglary/break-in/theft, riot & strike, earthquake, flood, storm, cyclone, hurricane, tempest, inundation, frost, accidental external means, and malicious act.
What does Motor Insurance exclude?
The above policy generally does not pay in case: the driver does not have a valid driving license, he/she is driving the vehicle under the influence of intoxicating alcohol or drugs, the accident took place beyond geographical limits, the vehicle was being used for unlawful purposes, or electrical/mechanical breakdowns.

What are the types of Motor Insurance policies?
There are mainly two types of motor policies: Third Party Policy and Comprehensive Policy. Third Party Policy protects policy holders against losses arising due to third party bodily injury/death and property damage. This however does not cover passengers inside the vehicle who have to be insured separately.
